TOWN OF BOOKS

HAY-ON-WYE

Hay-on-Wye is a small town on the border of England and Wales and has a rich history dating back to pre-Roman times. The name Hay (or Haia) means a field and the Wye is the river that meanders lazily through it.

The little town of Hay-on-Wye has over 40 bookshops and is known as the "Second-hand Book Capital" of the World. Books can also be purchased from the open-air Honesty Bookshop, which is located in the grounds of the Hay-on-Wye Castle. The books are available on open shelves 24 hours a day. When you've made your choice, you just put your money into the collecting box.
